According to MARD, as of July 2023, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover to the US accounted for 20.4%, down 29.3% compared to the same period in 2022. Most especially, the US is an extremely "difficult" market for importing Vietnamese products, specifically agricultural products and fruits, due to many influences from market factors such as:

• Long geographical distance.
• Long storage time, which makes it difficult to ensure product quality.
• Consumers are mainly the Vietnamese community in the US
• Vietnam does not have many irradiation facilities that meet US requirements.
• Increased transportation costs, which reduce the competitiveness of the fruit and vegetable industry.
