According to Headway statistics, accumulated in the first 11 months of 2023, the total global shrimp export volume reached 16,725 tons, down 5.3% over the same period last year. Compared to the beginning of the year, Headway output may go up from the second half of 2023, especially in July, increasing sharply from 1,499 tons to 2,192 tons.
According to Vasep, in the first 11 months of the year, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached USD 3.1 billion, down 23% over the same period last year. At the same time, Vietnam is also the top shrimp exporter to the US. Specifically, in October 2023, shrimp output exported to the US reached 6,702 tons, an increase of 33.5% over the same period last year. It is an impressive number for growth expectations.

In the context of a global recession and persistent inflation, Vietnam's seafood industry, as well as export shrimp output, encounters significant challenges. The demand decreased, and many suppliers offered lower prices, causing great pressure on prices, and consumption decreased sharply in traditional markets such as China, Japan, Korea.
